(Disneyland, 1958) One of the rarest Disneyland attraction posters, this is an original hand-silkscreened poster for Disneyland's Alice in Wonderland attraction with "Fantasyland" proudly displayed along the bottom edge. Designed by Imagineer Sam McKim, the poster features the popular image of Alice down the rabbit hole with the denizens of Wonderland. This is the only such example of this rare "Fantasyland" Alice in Wonderland poster that we have ever seen offered for public sale. Most attraction posters that still survive today were never actually installed for use within Disneyland, however this particular poster was mounted within its frame and used within the park. The poster measures 53.5"x35.5" and the frame is 56.5"x38.5". Both are in good condition. The poster exhibits corner and edge chipping, areas of spot paper loss at the top, bottom, and sides, minor tears, scratches, and scuffs throughout from outdoor display. The back of the board is cracked. Interestingly, to help reduce the amount of silkscreening needed on these posters, some of the white in Alice's face was actually just the color of the poster paper showing through, instead of a silkscreen layer. As such, this park-used poster, which was adhered in its park-used frame for several decades, had someone browned in those white paper areas. Some color restoration of the white in Alice's face has been professionally done, which creates a gorgeous display.
