(O-Zell, 1916) An original stock certificate from the O-Zell Company issued to Walter E. Disney on October 13th, 1916 when Walt was only 14 years old. Walt's father Elias saw the potential in O-Zell and began investing in the company. This stock certificate was purchased by Elias for his son and is one of the few items that exist from Walt's years as a teenager in Kansas City, Missouri. It was because of the O-Zell Company that Elias moved his family back to Chicago, where Walt was able to get formal artistic training at the Chicago Academy of Fine Arts. The certificate is signed by O-Zell Co. secretary G.A. Tysell and by O-Zell president Ernest Scrogin. This stock certificate was acquired through the estate of Ruth Disney Beecher, the youngest daughter of Elias and Flora Disney. It is accompanied by two photos; one of Walt's parents, Elias and Flora, and one of Walt Disney in his youth. Both photos are Walt Disney Productions copies of the original photos, and feature Walt Disney Production copyright stamps on their back sides. The certificate measures 8.25"x11" and the photos measure 8.25"x10". The condition of the certificate is very good with minor wear from use, and there are a few pin marks on the photos.
