(Disney, 1965) An original typed letter signed by Walt Disney to Wagnerian opera singer, Lauritz Melchoir. The letter, dated December 7, 1965, is typed on Walt Disney’s personalized letterhead, and informs Melchoir that Walt is forwarding his request for a charitable contribution to the offices of the Disney Foundation. He closes by wishing the renowned tenor a happy holiday season. The letter is signed by Walt in blue ink at lower right, "Walt Disney." It is accompanied by a vintage 1950s gelatin silver single-weight glossy studio portrait photograph of Walt drawing Mickey Mouse as seen in Steamboat Willie. Both pieces are assembled in a black textured wood frame measuring 18.5"x32". The letter measures 10"x7" visible through frame and appears to be in very good condition. The photo measures 10"x7.75" visible through frame and also appears to be in very good condition with minor handling. The letter comes from the estate of Lauritz Melchoir's son, the sci-fi writer and film director Ib Melchoir, and includes a letter of provenance.
