(Disney, c.1940) A very rare original office wardrobe closet from the Walt Disney Studios. The closet was designed by renowned German designer Kem Weber for the new Burbank studio in 1940. Weber designed virtually every aspect of the new studio, including the sleek office furniture. This stylized wardrobe was a common sight in the offices of the studio's legendary animators, and includes the original hanging bar and two hooks, as well as a wooden storage space at the foot of the door. The mirror and its molding have been reproduced in the style of the original. The wardrobe retains its original Walt Disney Productions identification label with the number 1617 that was blacked out after its initial use. The closet measures 66" tall, 16" wide, and 22" deep. The condition is fair, with some moderate scuffs and scratches throughout from use. There are some chips and removed portions in the wooden paneling, particularly along the top where tape has been used to mitigate lifting of the paneling, and some interior surface wear from its original use at the Walt Disney Studios. This item may require special shipping arrangements, please inquire for details and estimates.
