(Disney, 1952) A Walt Disney signed check presented in a magnificent framed display. The Walter E. Disney Bank of America personal check is ink-stamp-dated April 29, 1952 and made out for the sum of $250 to the Earl Warren Campaign Fund. Disney has signed his full name in black ink at lower right, "Walter E. Disney." The check is cancelled with perforated numerals at lower left. In 1952, Earl Warren was running for the republican presidential nomination, having served a record three consecutive terms as Governor of California. Warren had proven an incredibly popular and effective politician in the Golden State, pushing through a slate of New Deal-like policies that ensured prosperity in the Post War years, and leading the way on a number of social issues such as desegregation of schools. The check, held in place with archival mylar corner protectors, is framed below a large, 10.75"x13.75" composite photo print depicting Walt outside his animation studios, sitting in a convertible with a gang of his most iconic cartoon creations. Miniature 9"x6" reproduction poster prints for classic Disney films Steamboat Willie, Touchdown Mickey, The Art of Skiing, and Building a Building appear on either side. A plaque at lower center reads, "Walter Elias Disney Legendary Pioneer of Animation Mickey & His Friends." The check measures 3"x8" and is in very good condition with a central vertical crease and faint handling. The ornate metallic gold-painted molded wood frame measures 31.75"x41.75" and is in very good condition with only minor surface wear.
