(WDI/Disneyland, 1962) An incredible rare recording of early Tiki Room development, including Wally Boag's early pitch for the "Barker Bird." When the Enchanted Tiki Room opened on June 23, 1969, a Barker bird animatronic outside demonstrated for Guests what these brand new "animatronics" were, and invited them to come inside. On this tape in a meeting dated November 27, 1962, Wally Boag outlines his original idea for a barker bird, to be placed outside the Swiss Family Treehouse which had opened just over a week earlier. Boag acts out all the accents the bird would perform while describing the Treehouse experience. The tape also includes a demo of the Tiki Room dated October 21, 1962 with many differences from the final show, and voice recorded for the Tiki Room Barker Bird dated July 11, 1963. Included in the box is a handwritten account of the tape's tracks by Glenn Barker of the WDI Sound Department. Measuring 7" in diameter with a 7.25" x 7.25" box, the tape is in very good condition with expected wear from production use, and tape splices between sections that may require reinforcement due to age.
