(Disneyland, c.1960s) A very rare set of assorted fabric samples developed for The Royal Suite, the original iteration of what would become The Disneyland Dream Suite in New Orleans Square. The Suite was the brainchild of Walt Disney, who decided he needed a larger location for entertaining the park's visiting VIPs. Although significant progress was made in the creation of the suite, Roy O. Disney decided to place the project on hold following Walt's death in 1966. The location later became the home of the Disney Gallery from the late 1980s until 2007, before eventually becoming The Dream Suite in 2008. Artifacts from the original iteration while Walt was still involved in the project are incredibly scarce, and these fabric samples provide a scarcely seen look into what could have been for this historic location. The board backing is labeled "Walt Disney" along the top-edge, and contains two brown fabric samples that are hinged at their top edges to the backing, and one green sample. There appears to be a missing sample in the lower-right where an outline remains. The board measures 15.5"x12.25" and is in fair condition with some areas of discoloration from age and use, as well as some wear around the edges of the board.
