(Disneyland, 1977) An event script and ephemera related to the Disney-produced Super Bowl XI half-time show. The set-up consisted of a field full of 1,400 local students, dressed head to toe in green. While the 250-piece Los Angeles All-City Marching band played popular selections from the Disney catalog, the students executed maneuvers and held up colored fabric. At the same time, the audience was instructed to raise colored cards. The event was filmed from the Good Year blimp, creating the spectacular impression of a sea of fluid, flowing color. This collection includes the original 15-page event Final Script which is bound together with a 2-page event press release, 5-pages of event credits, a 2-page rehearsal schedule, and a 1-page event schedule. Also included are a Mickey Mouse Recreation Club newsletter page promoting the event, a LA Times front page clipping, a special Game Services Super Bowl XI pass, and a pair of the 4-page color block card booklets distributed to the audience for their participation. One of the booklets has been inscribed and signed by Robert Jani, the visionary impresario who designed the spectacular, with the words, "Thank you for a super show - Bob Jani." This fascinating behind the scenes archive provides rare insight into the production of one of the greatest mass spectacles in both sports and television history. Pieces range in size from 6"x3" to 14"x14" and are in generally very good condition with some browning, creasing, and handling wear.
