(Paramount, 1999) An original technical drawing in ink of a horn-handled dagger with a retractable blade from Tim Burton’s Sleepy Hollow. The intricate diagram of a prop dagger is meticulously labeled and features a detail illustration of the spring mechanism retreating into the handle of the trick weapon. A dagger like this is seen in the film during the fight between Brom Van Brunt (Casper Van Dien) and the Hessian Horseman (Christopher Walken), when Brom throws the blade at the Horseman and it sticks in his back. The Horseman, unfazed, pulls it out and buries it in Brom’s leg. The drawing has been folded in half and features a note in pencil on the reverse regarding a battery pack for another prop. Measuring 11.75”x8.25”, the drawing is in very good condition with tiny impressions from a rough surface throughout and some yellowing to edges.
