Few attractions at Disneyland were as prominent and iconic as the Skyway. While walking around the park, guests could see the impressive colorful circuit of buckets ferrying passengers between Tomorrowland and Fantasyland from virtually any area of the Magic Kingdom. And while riding the gondola, you would receive a view of the park unparalleled from any other attraction. The impressive view combined with the slight thrill from the heightened journey made the Skyway a well-loved and memorable attraction. The Skyway attraction at Disneyland opened on June 23, 1956 and ran until November 9, 1994. Originally, the ride required a D ticket to board, and could take passengers from Tomorrowland to Fantasyland, or vice versa. After 1959, the impressive aerial trip would even take the passengers straight through the Matterhorn, where one could catch a glimpse of the terrifying Abominable Snowman, if they dared. Offered here, is an original Skyway Bucket ride vehicle from 1967. This beautiful, vintage yellow bucket is in the familiar rectangular shape that these ride vehicles had from 1965 until 1994. During the first few years of the attraction, the buckets had an unusual rounded shape, which was later modified to the well-remembered rectangular bucket. Measuring 48”x68”x68” high, the bucket is in unrestored original condition, and in remarkably good condition after years of service in the park. The Skyway was a place to experience thrills and memories with old and new friends. With this original ride vehicle, this can still be a reality. With its sleek look and shape, the Skyway bucket is a perfect lounging area both within the home, and in the backyard. Where these buckets once entertained untold numbers of happy park guests, now these historic Disneyland artifacts can continue to entertain even more guests within the comfort of your own home. Although the attraction no longer remains at the park, the memories that countless park-guests have had within this attraction will never fade. And fortunately, this original ride vehicle will continue to create new memories for many more happy visitors for years to come.
