(Mattel, 1968) A very rare copper colored Beatnik Bandit die-cast car by Hot Wheels. This hotrod design was created in 1961 by legendary car customizer and visual artist, Ed "Big Daddy" Roth, with this particular car having once belonged to Roth himself. Roth's Beatnik Bandit design was immortalized beginning in 1968 when it appeared as one of the first 16 cars released by Mattel in the Hot Wheels toy line. The vintage car is still encased in its original plastic bubble with the included matching button. This particular car once belonged to Roth himself and now comes from the personal collection of his son, Darryl Roth. The card backing has been signed and dated "'94" by Ed Roth in red felt pen on the reverse. The packaging measures 6"x5.5" and 1.75" deep. The car is in good unused condition, while the backing card exhibits some warping from exposure to moisture, corner creasing, and paper separation at right edge of the button. There is some oxidation to the car's paint that is attributed to the moisture exposure.
