(Brayton-Laguna Pottery, 1938) An incredible collection of 17 ceramic figurines based on Disney's "Ferdinand the Bull" and created by Brayton-Laguna Pottery. Founded in 1927 by Durlin Brayton, and based in Laguna Beach, California, Brayton-Laguna was the first American pottery company licensed by The Walt Disney Company to produce figurines based on Disney characters. It was clear that Walt Disney appreciated the skill and artistry associated with ceramics and pottery. Over the coming years, Disney would reach out to many of California's finest pottery makers to represent his creations. This set of Ferdinand based figures are some of the earliest representations of those partnerships. The figures feature a wide variety of characters and poses, and many of these are scarcely seen on their own, much less in such a fantastic collection. The figures measure between 3" and 10.75" tall, and the set is in overall very good condition. Three figures appear to have been repaired, and there is some minor chipping to some of the figures. This is one of the most complete sets we have ever seen offered.
