(Disneyland, 1955) A set of (9) extremely rare original architectural drawings for the Upjohn Pharmacy in Disneyland's Main Street, U.S.A. Accomplished in pencil on vellum with some red pencil annotation, the drawings are attributed to the project team of legendary architect Earle G. Kaltenbach, a major contributor to the design of the park, while working under the supervision of Gabe Scognamillo, an award-winning Hollywood art director who Walt recruited for the Disneyland project. This artwork depicts elevation and detail drawings of the facade of the Upjohn Pharmacy, with special attention given to molding, metal scrollwork, light fixtures, windows, and other Victorian-style embellishments that became hallmarks of the iconic apothecary shop. Ranging in size from 6.25"x7.5" to 20.5"x21", the drawings are folded and in generally good condition with browning and yellowing from age, some edge chips and tears typical of the medium, corner creasing, and one piece with a 2.75" tear extending into the image. This is a rare opportunity to own original concept design artwork for an opening day park landmark.
