(Disney, 1928) A sequence of (5) Ub Iwerks' production drawings from "Plane Crazy," the first Mickey Mouse short. "Plane Crazy," a silent film, was tested before an audience in May of 1928, making it the first official appearance of Mickey Mouse. The short received a tepid response and Walt went back to the drawing board. With the later advent of synchronized sound, and the subsequent success of "Steamboat Willie" in November 1928, "Plane Crazy" was re-released with sound in March 1929 to greater success. The point-of-view drawings of this sequence depict the driver of an automobile caught unaware by Mickey's out-of-control barnstorming antics. Each piece ranges in image size from 1.25"x1.5" to 11.75"x9.5" on its 9.5"x12" animation paper. It is in very good condition, exhibiting mild color toning from age, a few creases, and minor wear.
