(Disney, 1954) A rare pair of weighted dive boots from the production of Walt Disney's "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea." To create the boots of Captain Nemo and the crew’s diving suits, standard U.S. Navy diving shoes of the time had canvas added to make them “boots” that suited the Victorian-Era diving suits designed for the film. These boots were worn on-camera in the film sequences shot in and around Lyford Cay in the Bahamas. The boots are composed of thick canvas with wooden insoles, heavy brass soles and toe caps, and both rope and leather strap reinforcements. The boots measure 16" x 5" x 13.5", weigh 11 pounds each, and are in good condition with expected heavy wear from production use and age.
