(Schwinn, 1970) A vintage Sting-Ray Cotton Picker bicycle manufactured by Schwinn. The "Diamond Jubilee Model," the Cotton Picker was created in 1970 to celebrate Schwinn's 75th anniversary in the bike business. Serial number MF117938, the bicycle features all the hallmarks of the iconic "Krate" series of Sting-Rays, such as a banana seat with metal Sting-Ray plate and sprung sissy bar; ape hanger handlebars with molded grips, two-tone streamers, and dual hand break levers; sprung front fork; chrome front and back fenders; branded chain guard; five on the frame stick shifter; front and back drum breaks; kickstand; 20"x2.125" white striped back tire; and 16"x1.75 white striped front tire. Accessories include a rearview mirror with checkerboard backing, speedometer/odometer, a front light, a squeeze horn, a tennis racket holder on the front fork, a baseball bat holder on the back fork, plastic noisemaker card clipped in the front spokes, "Cotton" Alabama 1970 rear license plate, and an under-the-seat Schwinn-branded Sabra leather pouch containing a tire patch kit and 10-piece bike tool set. The bike retains vintage Schwinn Service warranty and Schwinn Super-Service Used Bike hang tags. It is accompanied by a 33" long wooden baseball bat painted white with black Schwinn Sting-Ray Cotton Picker branding; a Spalding Kro-Bat tennis racket, measuring 27" long and 9" wide, with white and black leather Spaulding cover embellished with a metallic Schwinn decal; and a black and white embroidered Schwinn triple stripe adjustable baseball cap with rear Sting-Ray plate. Measuring 43" tall, 53" long, and 27.5" wide, the bike is in very fine condition, stunningly restored to its like-new glory. The handlebar grips have yellowed slightly, there's minor peeling to the decals on the gear shift, some paint wear, weathering, and age. There is wear and surface loss to the leather wrap on the tennis racket handle, a chip in the baseball bat barrel that has been painted over, and the hang tags exhibit age and handling.
