(Walt Disney World, 1971) Although Walt Disney World opened on October 1st, 1971, the official opening and dedication took place on October 23rd, 24th, and 25th. Attended by VIPs from all over the world, the studio made a point to invite those that had helped to shape the company and Walt's dream. One of those was Robert Stevenson, director of Mary Poppins, and many other Disney Live-Action films and TV series. His personal scrapbook of the Grand Opening events is an incredible look into that historic occasion. The 11"x13" scrapbook includes (45) 3.5"x3.5" candid color photos of the park and the opening day parade, (2) 8"x10" black and white Eastern Airlines publicity photos with Snow White and a flight attendant, a ticket to the Gala Dedication Concert with program, The Grand Opening Plaza Reception and Lakeside Buffet, a ticket to the Polynesian Luau and dediction of the Polynesian resort, and a signed letter from Roy Disney inviting him and his wife Ursula to the WDW opening. Also included is an Orlando Sentinel paper about the opening, the preview edition of WDW News, and a passport to the Grand Opening Spectacular and Dedication Ceremony with three (3) information cards about the evening's events. This collection also includes a 1978 silver park pass and a Mickey's Golden Ears Club pass with letter from Ron Miller at the studio. Set is in very good condition with minor wear from use.
