(Walt Disney Studios, 1931) An extremely rare fan card that was offered by newspapers as a premium to their readers in the late 1930s and 1931. This card features Mickey Mouse posing for a photo with Butch disguised in armor behind him. Butch was a friend of Mickey's who was introduced in the "Mr. Slicker and the Egg Robbers" storyline of the Mickey Mouse comic strip in late 1930. The facsimile signature along the bottom reads "Gobs of Good Wishes, Mickey Mouse" as well as "Me too, Butch". The card measures approximately 5.5"x3.5" and is in very good condition with little wear. The back side has the note "Mickey Mouse Studio, Hollywood, Calif, August 1, 1931" in ink from the card's original owner. This is one of the earliest fan cards we have seen and the only one of this particular image we have ever seen offered.
