(Walt Disney World, 1971-95) A vintage Major League electro-mechanical pinball bat game manufactured by Williams in 1963. This game machine was installed in the Magic Kingdom's Penny Arcade on Main Street from Opening Day in 1971 until the attraction closed 1995. During that time, the playfield, back box, and back glass were transplanted into a custom wood grain cabinet by Disney. The formica playfield is painted with a baseball diamond design and equipped with a metal ramp approaching the large Home Run target and an array of baseball-shaped hanging targets representing the other possible outcomes of an at bat. The back box features an animated mechanical diorama and lighting elements indicating the numbers of outs and the extra inning mode. Originally controlled by a lever, the game has been retrofitted with a bat-swinging button, as the lever assemblies were virtually impossible to replace, and the button could reliably withstand heavy daily use at the popular Main Street, U.S.A. attraction. The machine functions well and is playable. An iconic piece of Americana, the cabinet measures 74"x24.5" and 66" deep and is in good condition with chipping and scratches throughout from years of use in a high traffic concession. The game was offered by Disney at the Official Disneyana Convention of 1996, and a special plaque signifying its use in the Penny Arcade is included.
