(Disneyland, 1984) A pair of vintage picket signs from the historic 1984 Disneyland cast member strike. Workers walked off the job on September 24, 1984, after park management attempted to enact a two-year wage freeze and eliminate health benefits for part-time park employees. The strike finally ended after 22 days, when growing unrest compelled Disneyland management to agree to preserve part-time benefits, while the unions compromised on the wage freeze. This pair of signs includes one for the Teamsters Union, and one for the Hospital & Service Employees Union. Both are double-sided, but only the latter still has the wooden handle attached. "Disneyland" is printed on a separate sheet of paper and attached to both sides of the Hospital & Service sign. Both cardboard signs measure 22"x14", with the handle bringing the total height of the sign to 48". Both are in good condition, with some edge-wear and tearing on both from age and use. Although both show some moisture discoloration along the top edge, it is more significant on the Teamsters sign. The attached "Disneyland" has torn on one side and is heavily creased.
