(Weber, c.1938) An exceptionally rare original Assistant Animator's and Inbetweeners desk from the Walt Disney Studios in Burbank. In 1939, Walt Disney enlisted renowned German architect Kem Weber to design virtually every aspect of his new Studio complex, including what has become some of its most well-known features: the animation office furniture used by the Studio artists. A true triumph of Weber, these desks perfectly blended "Streamline Moderne" style and function, while accommodating a variety of customizations to fit the specific needs of individual artists. The solid core birch plywood desk contains sufficient shelf storage, a replacement light disk, (2) movable bulletin boards, (4) drawers, (2) tool trays, (5) shelves, (10) shelf supports, and even a footrest bar below. The desk still retains its Walt Disney Productions studio label bearing the address and a redacted identification number. Measuring an impressive 72" tall, 51" wide, and approximately 42" deep, the desk is in good used condition. The animation disk does not currently light, and the power cord will need to be replaced. The desk has surface wear and small nicks throughout from use. This item may require special shipping arrangements, please inquire for details and estimates.
