(Walt Disney Studios, 1942) Shortly before the United States entered World War II, the U.S. State Department comissioned Walt Disney to go on a tour of South America; not only because of the popularity of Disney in Latin America, but also with the plan to back a film by Disney to promote goodwill between the two continents. In 1942 "Saludos Amigos", a "package" film consisting of several short segments, was released. It was the first of two films about South America to be produced and also the first of six "package" films produced throughout the 1940s. These original production cels of Donald Duck and Jose Carioca have been trimmed and placed on an airbrushed background as prepared by Courvoisier Galleries for sale. The entire piece measures 7"x7.5" and is in fine condition.
