(Disneyland, 1954) An early original concept drawing of Tomorrowland by legendary Imagineer Bruce Bushman. In 1954, the premiere episode of Walt Disney’s “Disneyland “TV show, featured Disney introducing his theme park and the “lands” it comprised. Of course, since this was still early in the planning and construction phase, there were no photographs or concrete images to show. Therefore he commissioned his top art director, Bruce Bushman to render exciting images of each; the Fantasyland Castle, Adventureland, Frontierland, and Tomorrowland. As Disney announced the lands on camera, the film would dissolve into one of Bushman’s renderings. When Walt introduced Tomorrowland, this is the image that was shown. The other three pieces of this premier art are in the collection of the Disney Archives and have been featured in print and museum displays. This piece, the only one in private hands, came directly from the estate of Bruce Bushman. An extremely important piece in the history of Disneyland. Accomplished in charcoal and conte crayon on 23 x 30 in. artists’ leaf. In very good condition.
