(Paramount, 1961) An original scene concept painting for the off-beat Western One-Eyed Jacks, directed by Marlon Brando. Accomplished in pencil and watercolor on watercolor paper, the artwork is tipped to illustration board. The piece retains a studio ink stamp at lower right with "M Johnson" (J. McMillan Johnson) handwritten into the Art Director field and "R Ayres" (Robert Temple Ayres) in the Illustrated By box. It is additionally signed by Ayres, also lower right. A typed caption is affixed to the board below the artwork, "One Eyed Jacks - Int. Bar Mexican Town." and it is marked in black grease pencil, "Void." Cinematographer Charles Lang's interesting compositions earned him an Academy Award nomination for his work on the film, and this scene concept painting teems with drama. The artwork measures 12"x20.5" visible through 30"x22" frame and is in very good condition.
