(Disney, 1976) Ken Anderson's first drawing of Elliott for"Pete's Dragon." Often referred to as"Walt's 10th Old Man," Anderson worked on classic films such as"Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" and"Sleeping Beauty." Executive Producer Ron Miller convinced him to postpone retirement to work on"Pete's Dragon," which is remembered as Anderson's signature work. His mixed-media drawing features Elliott, Pete, and a matchbox appliqued to the pastel background. Anderson added original paint effects and dedicated the piece, dated 1976, signing"Ken" and noting that it is"the first-ever drawing of Elliott the dragon." With a 12" x 16.75" visible image in the 20.75" x 25.5" matte and frame, the drawing is in very good condition with fading from age, Pete's hand lifting off the backing, scuffs on the matte, and light wear on the elegant green frame.
