(Walt Disney World, c.1971) An original elephant maquette created during the development of the Jungle Cruise attraction at Walt Disney World. The maquette is identical to Blane Gibson's sculptures from Disneyland, as the original models were reused rather than sculpting anew. Cast in a heavy plaster, these models were also created to test water lines and depths for the attraction as necessary, due to the difference in Florida's water levels compared to California. This maquette comes from the collection of Disney Legend Ralph Kent, who was instrumental in the creation and opening of Walt Disney World. Measuring approximately 8" tall, the maquette is in very good condition, with paint and plaster restoration performed by Disney historians and artists Kevin Kidney and Jody Daily.
