(Disney, 1956-57) A collection of 16 typed pages of sweatbox notes for"Sleeping Beauty" owned by Disney Legend John Lounsbery. The sweatbox sessions were reviews of animation test footage by the animators, often along with Walt Disney himself and the other animation directors. These pages deal mainly with the"false Prince" sequence when Briar Rose dances with the owl and first meets Prince Phillip, giving a look at the amount of work that goes into every little detail of a Disney animated film. These pages also include one of the earliest mentions of the Xerographic animation process that would be used from"One Hundred and One Dalmatians" on, with Eric Larsen suggesting the use of"the new process by Ub Iwerks" to animate a shot. Another note references Iwao Takamoto, who would go on to design Scooby-Doo and many other Hanna-Barbera characters, to clean up the animation of Briar Rose in one shot. Also included are a related memo and an outline page. Measuring up to 8.5" x 14", the papers are in good to very good condition, several including pencil notations, with typical wear from use and age.
