(Disneyland/WDW, 1970s-90s) An archive of audio recordings from the voice of Disneyland, Jack Wagner. The collection consists of (4) tape reels, (10) Fidelipac carts, and (59) audio cassettes containing material from Disneyland, the Disneyland Hotel, Walt Disney World, Epcot, and more. Heard by millions of vacationers during his decades of service, Wagner's voice is one of the most prominent features in the soundscape of the Disney Resorts. After attending Disneyland's Opening Day festivities, Wagner, an actor and radio broadcaster, began his professional association with the Disney parks, doing guest announcing and narration for holiday events. By 1970, he had joined the company as a production consultant, and in short order was made official park announcer. His voice was heard making announcements around all the Disney parks, narrating attractions, in television specials and commercials, during Disney arena and ice shows, and as part of virtually every kind of audio visual presentation produced by the company. In addition to his work in front of the microphone, Wagner recorded background music for the various park lands, and engineered albums showcasing up-and-coming Disney talents. Many of Wagner's vocal performances have become iconic elements of Disney fandom, including his memorable delivery of a safety instruction from the Matterhorn Bobsleds: "Remain seated, please – Permanacer sentados, por favor." Subjects in the archive include the original master tape of Walt Disney World Dedication Ceremony announcements and peals, Roy Disney, Jonathan Winters, and Bob Hope from the Walt Disney World opening, Bob Hope's Luau speech, Disneyland Announcements by Mike and Jack Wagner, How to do Disney character voices, Art Tatum, Disney Super Bowl XI, Disney Aviation spiel, Fantasy Waters Show, Donald Duck songs, Mickey's Birthday medley, Disney New Year's Eve, Wagner as Mickey Mouse, Disneyland Hotel Review, Walt Disney World Bicentennial Show, Spanish Announcements for the People Mover, Epcot Announcements, Super Bowl XIII, the Walt Disney World Monorail Announcements (Spanish/English), New Orleans Square/Bear Country University of Disneyland Presentation, Disney Orange Bowl, Walt Disney World Pinocchio Character Show, Walt Disney World Fireworks Countdown, Mickey Mouse Parade Theme, and many, many more. Much of the material included has never been commercially released. By the same token, the recordings on offer here are the highest quality versions ever made available to the public, as they could only have been heard by guests at the park or a live event. Ranging in size from 2.5"x4" cassette tapes to 7" tape reels, the material appears to be in generally good to very good condition. Most items are labeled, some with printed stickers and many more with handwritten captioning, be it on a paper label or directly on the plastic tape itself.
