(Hoover, 1957) A signed letter from J. Edgar Hoover to David Chasen, owner of the famous Chasen's Restaurant in Los Angeles. Printed on Federal Bureau of Investigation stationery, the FBI director's letter thanks Chasen for mentioning him in a Saturday Evening Post article, as he is one of their "most satisfied customers." The legendary Chasen's was a hot spot for Hollywood stars and political figures, with Hoover rumored to have had a staredown with famed gangster Mickey Cohen in the restaurant. The letter is in a 6.5" x 7.75" visible window of a 10" x 11.5" framed matte and is in very good condition with folds from mailing and discoloration from age, while the matte and frame are in good condition with scratches, scuffs, wear, and discoloration from water contact and age.
