(Disneyland, 1969) An extremely rare 35mm film print made from the archived negative of the footage used to create the Madame Leota disembodied head in a crystal ball special effect for Disneyland's Haunted Mansion. The medium Madame Leota is played by Imagineer Leota Toombs (who is also the character's namesake). A complicated shoot, Toombs lip-synched to prerecorded dialog by voice actress Eleanor Audley, and had to be filmed while lying down to keep as still as possible, as any pronounced movements would have caused a distortion in the process by which her face was projected on the crystal ball, spoiling the effect. This print was made by a former Imagineer for their personal archive. Also included is a 35mm recording of selections of audio from the attraction, including the Madame Leota vignette. The film reel measures approximately 5" in diameter, and retains a label marked, "Madame Leota Haunted Mansion 1.33:1 flat." The film is in very good condition with some minor surface wear and hairline scratches.
