(Houston Astroworld, 1968-69) A set of seven original design drawings by Harper Goff for the Houston Astroworld Hotel. Judge Roy Hofheinz was a larger-than-life figure in Houston, who wanted everything for his Hotel and entertainment complex beside the AstroDome to be the best in the world. He hired Harper Goff to design the over-the-top deluxe VIP suites, which became legendary for hosting guests including Frank Sinatra and Michael Jackson. This set of seven sheets includes several concept drawing, elevations, and floor plans on each, with proposed designs and details for kitchen and breakfast nook areas, a Lillian Russell room, and an elaborate domed dining room. Six of the sheets are signed by Goff and dated 1968 or 1969. Accomplished in felt tip and pencil on vellum, the artwork measures 24” x 18” with one 24” x 19” and are in very good production-used condition with typical handling wear including small creases and tears to edges, with one piece showing slight waviness and color shift from age.
