(New York World's Fair/Gordon Cooper, 1964) An impressive one-of-a-kind plaque presented to astronaut Gordon Cooper at the New York World's Fair. May 1st, 1964 was proclaimed Gordon Cooper Day, in honor of his achievements in the Mercury program and the upcoming Gemini mission. Before the crowds at the World's Fair U. S. Space Park, Fair Vice President William Berns presented Cooper with this plaque bearing the bronze seals of the City of New York and of the World's Fair, both in 10.75" and 2.75" diameter. At center is a 6.5"x2.75" plaque with the dedication. Included with the plaque is a pair of photos signed by Gordon Cooper: an 8.5"x12" digital print of the plaque presentation, and an archival 1975 Disney Studio 8"x10" signed photo of Gordon Cooper at Walt Disney World, from his time as a Vice President in Imagineering of research and development of EPCOT. Measuring 18.5"x28"x2", the wooden and bronze plaque is in fine condition, with slight scuffs to the outer edges only. The photos with autographs are in fine condition.
