(Hammeras, 1916-25) A collection of six photographs of Ralph Hammeras’ earliest miniature and effects work in silent film. This page from Hammeras’ own scrapbook of his career includes photos of a 1916 miniature from a RealArt Pictures film, the first miniature he built for a film in 1917, the effects crew with a miniature boat made for 1925’s “The Clothes Make the Pirate,” and a photo of his 1925 studio in Carnegie Hall in New York City. Measuring from 3” x 3.75” to 3.75” x 4.75”, the photos are in good to very good condition, with expected toning from age, a 1” tear to the 1916 photo, and spotting to the Carnegie Hall photo. All of the prints are adhered to the 11” x 15” page from Hammeras’ scrapbook and feature his hand-written captions. The page is in fair condition with edge wear and chipping that does not affect the photos.
