(EPCOT, c.1981) An incredible set of hand-colored storyboards for the "Equatorial Africa Pavilion" at EPCOT Center in Walt Disney World. This pavilion has become infamous for ultimately not being built despite so much progress having been made towards its completion. One of the five sections for this proposed pavilion would have been the "Cultural Center". The main attraction for the center was a show titled "Africa Rediscovered". This storyboard set is the complete "Africa Rediscovered" show that ultimately never made it into EPCOT, and provides a fantastic look into one of the rarest shows that few have ever been able to see. This spiral-bound storyboard set features 45 pages containing multiple hand-colored storyboard panels per page. This storyboard set was created by taking Imagineer Ken Anderson's storyboard drawings, and replicating the black lines and the narration into panels on these storyboard sheets. The panels were then beautifully hand-colored in marker and compiled to be used in the creation of the film. This storyboard set also comes with a 30-page presentation brochure for the pavilion, which includes early concept art and descriptions for what was to be included within each of the pavilion's areas. The backs of the concept art photo prints within this brochure feature the Walt Disney Productions copyright stamp for 1981. This impressive set is in very good condition with little wear from its creation and use in development for the show.
