(20th Century Fox, 1970) An original Color Model for the makeup prosthetics worn by actor Don Pedro Colley in "Beneath the Planet of the Apes." John Chambers cast this head in foam, and painted it as a guide for painting the full facial prosthetic revealed by Colley in the film's climactic ending. The bottom is labeled "1 MOLD FOR SLIP RUBBER CASTING" by John Chambers himself. Chambers also pioneered the use of silicone caulking - a relatively new product at the time - to paint the finished piece and give it a slimy appearance that it retains today. Measuring 9" x 9.25" x 13" high, the color model is in good condition, with spots of paint loss and cracking throughout as expected from age, and color and glossiness retained throughout.
