(Disneyland, c.1964-73) A kitchen table and pair of matching chair props that were used in the fourth act of Walt Disney's Carousel of Progress. First used within the 1964-65 New York World's Fair version of the attraction, then brought to Disneyland for the park's version from 1967 to 1973, these props were custom built to showcase what the 21st century home might resemble. These props were a prominent and memorable focal point of this segment of the attraction. In the World's Fair version, the table was decorated with a small Christmas tree, while the Disneyland version was decorated with a floral arrangement. A small spot of adhesive residue can still be seen where these decorations originally attached to the top of the table. The table measures 40" in diameter and stands 27" tall, and the chairs measure 23" from arm to arm and 32" tall. The props are composed of thick lucite and metal, and are in good used condition, with some surface scuffs throughout and some spots of discoloration to the cushions. There are a few cracks under the cushions where the seats connect to the stands. Artifacts from the original iteration of the Carousel of Progress are exceptionally rare, with pieces such as this that were in use for the entirety of the attraction being even more so. These props may require special shipping arrangements, please inquire for details and estimates.
