(Mirro-Products, ca. 1960s) A vintage Bubble Up restaurant menu board manufactured by Mirro-Products Company. A wonderful artifact from bygone days, the board consists of a pane of glass back-painted with an eye-catching Mid Century Bubble Up advertisement and twelve windows for menu items. The pane is housed in a metal and wood frame with a hanging wire and a board backing reinforced by metal slats. Strips of paper printed with menu items slide into slots in the board, and the piece is accompanied by a mostly intact perforated sheet of gum backed price tags, increasing in value from 5 to 95 in 5 cent intervals, intended to be adhered to the item strips. Menu item strips have alternate items printed on the front and back. Options include Hamburger, Cheeseburger, Baked Ham, Bacon & Tomato, Homemade Pie, Grilled Cheese, Ham & Cheese, Steak Sandwich, Chili & Beans, Salami, Ham & Eggs, Hot Cakes, and more. Measuring 19.5"x37.5", the board is in very good condition with an area of paint chipping at upper right, paint cracking/flaking at upper left, and a few small scattered chips. The backing board shows some age and wear with minor oxidation to the slats. The menu item strips have browned with age and have some creasing and surface loss. The price tags exhibit some toning, staining, tears, soiling, and curling.
