(Touchstone, 2001) A collection of original “Jimmy Livingston” (Jake Gyllenhaal) hero and production used mobile bubble suit components from the comedy cult classic, Bubble Boy. The elaborate medical device/costume consists of a large transparent vinyl “bubble,” a transparent vinyl backpack, protective pants with vinyl accordion seals, a vinyl panel with rubber accordion sleeves attached to a set of thick protective rubber gloves, and a customized backpack. The large vinyl bubble is marked #2 and features a zipper front closure and vinyl reinforcement to either side. Constructed of orange pleather, the pants have zipper and velcro front closure, purple web straps with clips at the front of the waist, an added pvc pipe port to the left of the groin, and accordion seals above the knee on either leg. They are marked internally “# 1 Hero,” and the seals have rough edges as they were cut from the bubble to which they were originally connected. The vinyl backpack features two zippered pockets, retains a costumer’s tag marked “Hero,” and has additional vinyl material around the edges where it was excised from a bubble. The customized backpack has reinforced straps and an imaginative hodgepodge of repurposed analog technology including an air gauge, an electrical outlet to which a prop breathing apparatus (constructed of plastic and foil hoses connected to a cast foam bladder with electrical cord) is attached, a reel of rubber tubing, an additional pouch, and a hard plastic tube, among other embellishments. The bubble was an alternate from production. The pants, sleeves and gloves setup, vinyl backpack, and customized backpack are hero components of the screen used suit. A multicolor web strap and an additional production made backpack with added electrical port are also included. The bubble suit pieces are in production used very good condition. There is some browning to some vinyl components, surface loss to the foam breathing apparatus, and general wear and soiling from use.
