(Walt Disney Studios, 1993) A cement block containing the handprints and signature of animator William (Bill) Hurtz. Hired at the Walt Disney Studios in 1938, Hurtz is recognized for animating the memorable dancing mushroom sequence in Fantasia. Hurtz's legacy in animation spans beyond the Walt Disney Studios, as he partnered with a few of his former coworkers to form UPA, which created the iconic Academy Award winning short, Gerald McBoing-Boing. Hurtz later worked for Jay Ward on the stylish Captain Crunch commercials, and even contributed to more recent productions, such as Klasky Csupo's Rugrats. This cement imprint of Hurtz's hands and his signature within the cement provide a lasting reminder of his artistry and contributions to The Walt Disney Studios and animation history as a whole. Dated 4-7-94, the cement measures approximately 18"x27" and 3" deep. The condition is good with minor surface wear from previous display including a chipped top-left corner.
