(Alps, 1966) An extremely rare battery-operated Batmobile made in Japan by Alps in the 1960s. This version was styled after General Motors' Firebird III concept car and features great lithography of two bats on the top surface of car, which also has two sections in back with red and green translucent plastic panels. Lithography also includes detailed cockpits with Batman and Robin's bodies as well as detailed controls. Batman and Robin each have separate tin litho heads. There is a Separate tin litho compartment in front of Robin in the hood that lifts to reveal a gun that lights. The 11.5" toy has rubber tires and actions include bump-and-go, firing noise, gun lights and back lights. All function well. The Batmobile has some scattered wear in the form of tiny nicks and scratches but remains in very good condition. The toy is extremely dirty and with a professional cleaning would be considered in fine condition. A great example of a scarce toy.
