(Tokyo Disneyland, 1983) “Meet the World” was a unique show created for Tokyo Disneyland, designed to tell the story of Japan’s emergence onto the world stage. Created especially as an opening day attraction for Disney’s first foreign theme park and slated to be added to EPCOT Center (which ultimately did not occur), the show used a format similar to the Carousel of Progress with rotating scenes. This Mark V-style Audio-Animatronics head was used for the key magistrate character in the show. The Mark V head was originally developed for all human figures at Walt Disney World in 1971, and is still used as the primary head chassis for Audio-Animatronics figures. The head comes complete with mechanical elements, plastic under skull, and hot-melt vinyl mask as used in the show. This is the first time a complete Audio-Animatronics head has been offered at auction. This exceptionally rare piece of theme park technology is presented in fine condition as removed from the show upon its closure in 2002. Measures 6”w x 11”t x 8”d (with mask and shells mounted).
