(Lloyd, 1921) A beautiful autograph by silent film star Harold Lloyd. Best remembered for the iconic image of a bespectacled man hanging from the hands of a clock high over the city in 1923's "Safety Last," the comedian signed this card lavishly on April 20, 1921, and added a small portrait of himself. When Helen Hull Monnette was born in 1920, her father Orra Eugene Monnette wanted to do something special for his young daughter. Orra sent cards bearing Helen’s name to people of note from that time period, asking them to sign the cards and send them back in the provided return envelope. This card from the Helen Hull Monnette collection includes Lloyd's return envelope. Measuring 2.25" x 3.5", the card displays in very good condition, with wear to the back from being glued in an album, with paper loss to the lower right corner.
