(Ward, 1959) An original production cel of Mr. Peabody and Sherman from the first episode of the “Peabody’s Improbable History” segment from “Rocky and His Friends.” In this early cel, Sherman wears a time-travel belt instead of using the Wayback Machine, and both he and Mr. Peabody wear brown eyeglasses instead of the black glasses seen in later episodes. With an image size of 5.25” x 7” on a 10.5” x 12.5” cel in an 11.75” x 13.75” frame, the cel displays in good condition with a 0.25” area of paint loss above Sherman’s right eye, and both of his shoes and paint cracking throughout due to the production’s use of acrylic paint rather than cel vinyl paint.
