(Disney, 1944) A rare insignia patch designed by Disney, featuring Pedro from “Saludos Amigos.” Pedro became a mascot for the Advanced Flight School of Ellington Airfield in Houston, Texas during World War II. As part of their contribution to the war effort, Disney artists created around 1,200 insignias for the U.S. military. The logos were extremely popular with the troops, offering levity and a reminder of home during difficult situations in faraway theaters of combat. Measuring 5” x 6”, the felt patch is in good condition with tears, stains, wear from use, and discoloration from age.
