(Disney, 1943) A beautiful production background from “The Grain That Built a Hemisphere” with matte signed by Walt Disney. Produced by Disney for the Office of Inter-American Affairs, the documentary was nominated for an Academy Award. The Disney Studio custom matte is hand-signed by Walt himself and dedicated to “Ken” as a gift to Kenneth MacGowan, the Director of Inter-American Affairs, the government sponsor of the Disney Studios’ trip to South America which resulted in the films “Saludos Amigos” and “The Three Caballeros.” The artwork, accomplished in gouache with a 8.25” x 11” visible image, is in fine condition. The matte, with a 4.5” x 1.75” signature and dedication, is in very good condition with color shift and wear from age, with four small water spots that do not affect the artwork or signature. Walt’s signature is faint but clear.
