(Disneyland, 1954) A historically significant original concept painting of Frontierland's Golden Horseshoe Revue, signed and inscribed by Walt Disney. Ever the showman, Walt made proposals to his would-be corporate sponsors by sending them original renderings of their prospective locations in Disneyland bearing their corporate identity. If a sponsor was to decline, he would send another rendering of the same space to a competitor with their logo. This was never a problem however, in that every sponsor Disney sent a proposal, bought into Disneyland hook, line, and sinker! This beautifully rendered painting by Sam McKim features the exterior of the Golden Horseshoe Revue which was sponsored by Pepsi Cola until 1982. Walt Disney SIGNED the mat to Don Kendall of Pepsi's marketing division. Kendall rose to VP of Marketing for Pepsi in 1957, no doubt buoyed by the deal inked with Disney that this painting commemorates. He was promoted to CEO of Pepsi in 1963 and held that position until 1993. Accomplished in gouache on brownline and applied to board measuring 36"x 22", with Walt Disney's dedication in grease pencil (as he customarily used), the piece is in fine condition.
