(Disneyland, 1955-1960s) A one-of-a-kind scrapbook of photos, press clippings, and rare Disneyland ephemera relating to the Carnation Company at Disneyland. Clearly assembled by an employee or officer of Carnation Company, included within are (25) 8x10 photos documenting the construction and opening events of the Carnation Ice Cream Parlor on Main Street. Many press clippings, including from extremely obscure sources such as Dairy Industry magazines, document the Parlor, its design, and opening events such as a contest to make the best ice cream sundae, judged by three top chefs from Los Angeles hotels, all seen in the photos. Ephemera in the album includes an extremely rare Disneyland Invitational Press Preview ticket dated July 17,1955, the original Carnation Parlor menu, an invitation to the Parlor during the live broadcast of Disneyland's opening, a "TWA First Flight to Disneyland" menu dated July 16, 1955, and the original color Sunday supplement published by the Los Angeles Times on July 15, 1955, and more. Measuring 23.75"x19.25", most of the items inside are in very good to fine condition, while firmly affixed within the album. A few press clippings, the menu, and some photos show slight staining from water exposure to the bottom right corner of the album. The newspaper supplement has some chipping and wear to the edge from age. This is truly a unique assemblage of many historical Disneyland pieces, both extremely rare and truly never seen elsewhere.
