(Schlesinger, 1943) An original layout drawing from the World War II propaganda film “Tokio Jokio.” This is the interior of a submarine, where the workers in the distance are shown in the following shot to not be working on machinery, but playing arcade games. After the war, the film was banned due to its racist depictions of the Japanese, and would mark animator Norman McCabe’s final cartoon at Warner Bros. With an image size of 8” x 10.5” on 9.5” x 12” drawing paper, the graphite and colored pencil art is in good condition with creases, edge wear, corner folds, and discoloration from age.
