(Horikawa Toy, 1962) A tin “Capsule Mercury” friction motor rolling space capsule with the original box. The toy and box are labeled Friendship 7, after the Mercury capsule John Glenn piloted to orbit the Earth. The friction motor still functions when prompted and spins the astronaut inside, but too stiffly to propel the toy freely on the ground. Measuring 9.5” long x 5.5” wide, the toy displays in very good condition exhibiting glossy paint, with small scuffs, scratches, and dings from play. The 4.5” x 5” x 9” box is in fair condition with much wear, warping, scuffs, soiling, and small tears.
