(Roosevelt, 1944) A signed letter from the 32nd President of the United States, Franklin D. Roosevelt, to Alfred Schwartz of the 47th Armoured Medical Battalion, thanking him for sending postage stamps for his collection. At the time, Roosevelt was in the middle of leading the U.S. involvement in WWII. This letter, written three weeks after the Invasion of Normandy in France, mentions the harrowing Battle of Anzio in which the Allies fought to liberate Italy from the Germans. The letter is written on White House stationery and includes the original envelope. Measuring 7" x 9", the letter is in good condition with light soiling, creasing, and edge wear.
